Inside our hill lies an unseen, unknown and unexplored network of mines and caves.
We can only guess at the scale of this forgotten world and wonder what is buried there.
Once, briefly, Worle Hill was home to the largest zinc mines in Europe. Later miners dug for ochre and lead, but few signs of their efforts remain.
Here too were caves, full of the bones of the animals that lived here before the ice crept back over the northern horizon.
What remains?
We will probably never know, for time has sealed the entrances to protect the curious from themselves.
